Director General Rui Macieira informed Ambassador Lhuillier that effective 14 November 2013, Filipinos wishing to travel to Portugal may now apply for their Schengen visas with the Greek Embassy in Manila following an agreement entered into between the Portuguese and Greek foreign ministries.

Ambassador Lhuillier thanked Director General Macieira for instituting this arrangement as this will make the visa application process more convenient for Filipinos. Ambassador Lhuillier said, “A number of Filipinos have approached the Embassy informing us that applying for the visas to travel to Portugal with the Portuguese Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia is quite a difficult process. This new arrangement with the Greek Embassy in Manila will be a very welcome development, especially for Filipinos in Portugal who are hoping to bring over family members or relatives over to visit them during the holiday season.”
