AMB. PHILIPPE JONES LHUILLIER
Known for both his exemplary leadership and warm nature, Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier was appointed as the Philippine Ambassador of the Philippines to Portugal. With this new undertaking, Ambassador Lhuillier promises to be a supportive partner and an effective channel between the two nations. He envisions a more active and productive collaboration as he aims to provide the Portuguese with a taste of Filipino culture and at the same time, encourage more opportunities for the Filipinos in Portugal. Previous to his Portugal post, Ambassador Lhuillier was already well loved by the Filipino community in Italy where he served as Philippine Ambassador from 1999 to 2010.
Nine months after being appointed as Philippine Ambassador to Portugal, Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier has already started building a harmonious relationship with the said country. He began to initiate programs and activities that allowed the Filipino community in the region to meet and celebrate with one another.
Early this year, he presented his Letter of Credence to the honorable President of Portugal, Anibal Cavaco Silva. Ambassador Lhuillier expressed the deep appreciation of the Philippine government, most especially President Benigno S. Aquino III, and the Filipino people for the harmonious and valuable relationship between the Philippines and Portugal. Being the channel to Portugal, Ambassador Lhuillier shared his vision for more active and productive collaborations between the two nations. In the same manner, President Anibal Cavaco Silva is confident that through the new ambassador, the continued close ties between the two countries would lead to positive results especially in the areas of trade, tourism, and enrichment of cultures.
