Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier meeting
with Madeira’s Director for Regional Tourism, Dr. Bruno Freitas.
As part of his official visit to the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Philippine Ambassador
to Portugal Philippe J. Lhuillier met with the island’s Director of Regional Tourism,
Dr. Bruno Freitas.
They discussed a possible collaboration between the Philippines and Madeira in terms
of exchanging best practices in tourism, raising awareness among our respective
peoples regarding our countries, and enhancing linkages.
Ambassador Lhuillier also took this opportunity to gain insights on the European
tourism market as a means of providing the Embassy an effective means of promoting
to the Portuguese the Philippines as a tourist destination.
“Learning from Madeira’s experience and success in tourism is beneficial to the
Philippines. There are many things offered to Madeira that is also present in the
Philippines: pleasant weather, island environment, beaches, water-based activities,
hiking trails, natural attractions, historical and cultural sites, and rich cuisine,”
said Amb. Lhuillier.
